Social & Moral Brain Seminar

Published on September 11, 2025

Over the past months, my friend Eva Vives and I have been busy organizing something very exciting: the first edition of the Social & Moral Brain seminar!

This international conference will bring together researchers in psychology and neuroscience to explore topics such as morality, social influences, learning, empathy, emotions, and brain synchrony. The program will feature keynotes, talks, and poster sessions — all hosted at the GUM Museum, Ghent University, on 16–17 October 2025.

Because of this big project (among other things!), our beloved Friday Social Club is taking a short break in September and October. But we’ll be back in November with fresh energy, new discussions, and of course, coffee and sweets.

We’re really looking forward to welcoming everyone — whether at the seminar in October or at the Social Club later this year. More information will be updated soon! :)

NeuroNarratives: Speed Dating

Published on March 15, 2025

Today, we launched the first meeting of NeuroNarratives — an initiative where artists and neuroscientists come together to share ideas, build connections, and explore the creative possibilities at the intersection of art and science. This kickoff gathering was all about sparking dialogue and forming collaborative pairs. We’re excited to see what emerges from these partnerships over the coming year. 🧠

A huge thank you to all the residents for bringing such energy, curiosity, and openness to the start of this journey.

NeuroNarratives: Brain Awareness Week

We’re excited to be part of Brain Awareness Week 2025 (BAW), a global initiative supported by the Dana Foundation!

NeuroNarratives is bringing together selected artists and neuroscientists to explore the intersection of art and brain science. Throughout BAW, we’ll be showcasing their work, leading up to our Speed Dating event, where artist-neuroscientist pairs will be formed. Meet our artists and scientists!

Stay tuned for more updates & behind-the-scenes moments!

Friday Social Club at Ghent University

Published on April 17, 2024

With my friend Eva Vives (Post-doc, UGent) we came to a simple but exciting idea: what if we created a space in our department to share thoughts, results, and ideas about research in social cognition — in both a scientific and social way? And just like that, the Friday Social Club was born. Within three days, the invitation letter was sent to the department!

The Social Club brings together anyone interested in social psychology, cognition, and behavior. Each session features a short talk by an invited speaker, followed by open discussion over coffee and sweets. It’s designed to be inclusive, interdisciplinary, and interactive — a chance to connect, exchange ideas, and spark collaborations in a relaxed setting.

We’re also opening the floor to future speakers: whether you’re a Bachelor/Master student, PhD, post-doc, or PI, you’re warmly invited to present your work or bring a discussion point.

Want to join? You can hop onto our Teams group [ EDU Friday Social Club FSC | General | Microsoft Teams] or send us an email, and we’ll add you to the Social Club!
